What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that uses your visual field to identify where you are storing negative experiences/memories in your brain. It was discovered in 2003 by Dr. David Grand who often says “where you look affects how you feel.” For example, if you are thinking about a problem and look to the left, right, up, or down, one spot may feel more activating (triggering or uncomfortable), while looking in other spots will feel less activating (more calm or comfortable). We will work together to identify the Brainspot associated with the negative memory or experience you would like to process. Once the Brainspot has been identified, I will use a pointer (aka my magic wand!) to help you remain focused on that spot and continue to observe any sensations, feelings, and thoughts that come up as the brain unwinds the tangled memories related to the negative experience.

The Brainspotting experience is a little different for everyone and is sometimes hard to understand how it works. However, most people are surprised at how fast it helps them to process and heal negative memories without even talking about the issues. Brainspotting can also be used to help promote creativity and remove creative blocks. It is a great tool for models and influencers that are shy or anxious and get nervous before castings and jobs. It can help you connect to your body in new ways that will in turn help you feel more confident about the way you move and perform in front of the camera.
